My name is Harvarinder Dhillon, but people like to call me Harvey or Michael.
I have started my IT professional career as technical support officer and then worked as programmer for few years before started working as Database Administrator. I love being DBA and esp. Oracle DBA. Like new challenges and the pace at which Oracle is releasing new versions of Oracle database software and new technologies. It keeps me busy.

Working as Database
Administrator since 2007 and areas that I have explored are RAC, Data
Guard, Clusterware, Standalone databases 10g, 11g, 12c, RMAN, ASM, Grid Control and
Oracle App Servers. I have extensively used Oracle tools and features
like SQL tuning using "Explain plan", "TKPROF",
"SQL_TRACE", Optimizer modes, Gathering statistics. Developing and
implementing strategies for patching, creating new databases, upgrading
databases, DR/BC testing, monitoring and performance turning are my passions. I
know it is bit time consuming but documentation is the taking for which I can
never get an workaround.
Microsoft SQL Server and HA Cluster support is not new to my and have done lots of hands on it. Over the time I have done programming in Java, Perl, SQR, Python and shell scripting. I have got a very good understanding of RedHat, OEL, Solaris, CentOS and Windows platform.

Thanks Gurpreet,
I am just trying to share my experiences while using databases and different technologies and found that blogging is one of the best ways.
